Klein vaarbewijs
Wanneer je in het bezit bent van een klein vaarbewijs mag je niet alle schepen varen. Met dit vaarbewijs is het toegestaan om schepen te varen van een maximale lengte van 25 meter. Denk hierbij aan een rubber- of motorboot, waterscooter of jetski. Een klein vaarbewijs is vooral bedoeld voor pleziertochten op het water, maar dit vaarbewijs is ook te gebruiken om beroepsmatig te varen. Een voorbeeld hiervan is een pontvaart. Als je de pont rondvaart, mag de pont niet langer zijn dan 20 meter en is het niet toegestaan dat er meer dan 12 betalende passagiers aan boord zitten.
Groot vaarbewijs
De boten die langer zijn dan 25 meter, met een maximum lengte van 40 meter, worden bestuurd met een groot vaarbewijs. Dit vaarbewijs is ook verplicht wanneer je meer dan 12 betalende passagiers aan boord hebt. Met een groot vaarbewijs is het toegestaan om andere boten te slepen of te duwen.
Hoe haal je deze vaarbewijzen?
Het kleine vaarbewijs is relatief makkelijk te behalen. Hiervoor is het niet nodig om een praktijkexamen af te leggen. Het enige wat verplicht is, is het behalen van de theorie toets. Wil je liever je grote vaarbewijs behalen? Houdt er dan rekening mee dat je een theorie- en praktijkexamen moet afleggen.
Varen zonder vaarbewijs?
Een andere optie om wel te varen, maar geen vaarbewijs te halen: het is mogelijk om te zeilen, roeien, waterfietsen en te kanoën, zonder vaarbewijs! Wanneer je zonder vaarbewijs gaat varen in een boot waar je wél een vaarbewijs voor nodig hebt, ontvang je een boete van minstens €550! Dat is natuurlijk zonde geld. Behaal dus je vaarbewijs zo snel mogelijk! Hiermee is het mogelijk om in de zomer, bij lekker weer een boot huren!
